Initial vRealize Automation (vRA) Configuration Part 7 - Create an Entitlement

Create an Entitlement

Entitlements map a number of entitled catalog items, services, and actions to a single business group.  A business group cannot perform any actions, such as submitting a request, unless there is at least one entitlement mapping the business group to at least one catalog item.

A business group can have more than one entitlement assigned to it.

Each entitlement maps one and only one business group to a set of catalog items.

Use the following procedures to create an entitlement:

  1. Click the Entitlements menu item on the left.
  2. Click the “New” button.
  3. Change the status to “Active”.
  4. Enter a name and description for the entitlement. It is recommended to name the entitlement the same name as the business group, as usually each business group will only have one entitlement.  If you foresee the need to add more than one entitlement to a business group, it is a good idea to prefix the entitlement name with the business group name and then append a short descriptive name on the end detailing what the purpose is (i.e. BG-1-Dev or BG-1-OS, etc.).
  5. Click the “Next” button.
  6. Click the plus sign icon next to “Entitled Services”.
  7. Select the appropriate service (or services) to entitle using this entitlement.
  8. Click the “OK” button.
  9. Click the plus sign icon next to “Entitled Actions”.
  10. Select all actions (or choose only the ones you want to entitle to this group).
  11. Click the “OK” button.
  12. Click the “Finish” button to create the entitlement.
